Weather Alert: Low stocks means council can’t salt roads

Met Éireann has renewed its severe weather warning, with up to 5cm of snow expected in the north west today.
The northwest has been worst affected by the adverse weather conditions today, in many places the snow is turning to ice, causing further hazardous conditions for motorists.
Donegal County Council has said that due to dwindling salt stocks it will only be able to provide a limit road treatment service this evening and tomorrow and cannot confirm when a normal service will resume.
A decision has been made to stop treating the back of Errigal road and there will be no salt applied to any of the key routes across the county tonight.
