Letterkenny General performs well on colonoscopy waiting times

Despite a nationwide increase of 30% in those waiting over three months for a test that will tell them if they have bowel cancer, the number at Letterkenny General has actually fallen.

The Irish Cancer Society says November figures show that over 800 people are waiting over three months for a colonoscopy which is the most effective procedure for diagnosing bowel cancer.

Last month 25 people were waiting over three months for the procedure at Letterkenny General a drop of one on Septembers figures.

Kathleen O'Meara of the I-C-S says while that is to be welcomed the reality is no one should be waiting over three months:[podcast]http://www.highlandradio.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/ICS.mp3[/podcast]
