Donegal backs Divorce Referendum by 77% to 23%


Ireland has voted overwhelmingly to ease restrictions on divorce and recognise foreign divorces.
In a landslide vote – the second biggest since the Good Friday agreement – the country voted 82% Yes to 18% No in the divorce referendum.
The result was announced at 4.30 am this morning.
Donegal voted yes by 77% – 23%.
The highest vote was in Dun Laoghaire Rathdown at 86.7% and the lowest was in Monaghan at 75.04%
Meanwhile, counting is resuming this morning in the local elections.
So far more than 200 councillors have been elected across the country, while in Donegal, the count proper is starting now in seven electoral areas across five count centres.
