Doherty seeks answers on wildfire response


In the wake of Easter Monday’s major gorse fire in West Donegal, Donegal Deputy Pearse Doherty has tabled a number of formal questions to the Taoiseach and to Defence Minister Paul Kehoe seeking answers on how long it took to agree a request for Air Corps assistance.
Deputy Doherty says in the immediate aftermath of the fires, he wrote to the taoiseach and the minister asking about the timing, and also about what lessons have been learned. However, he says in the absence of any answers, he has now posed the questions officially.
Deputy Gallagher says he absolutely accepts the Air Corps explanation that it took time to source a crew and equip an aircraft, but his query relates to ministerial clearance for the preparation to begin…….
