Plans for public conveniences on Donegal’s Islands progressing


Plans for public conveniences on a number of Donegal’s islands are said to be progressing well.
Donegal County Council officials say they are optimistic funding for the development of a new Public Convenience for Inishbofin will be made available. The project is said to be progressing with a planning application in development.
Meanwhile, an assessment of the PC in Arranmore has been completed. Works on Arranmore would include improved lighting, access, drainage and redecorating with a further proposal for disabled access.
Its anticipated all necessary works will be completed before the main tourist season.
The local authority says while a permanent PC is progressed for Gola Island, a seasonal portaloo service will continue into 2019.
They say following a recent meeting with Coiste Forbartha Ghabhla, new options to progress the PC project were proposed which are positive and welcome.
