643 people on Inishowen Social Housing Waiting List

There is a net social housing waiting list in Inishowen of 241, but when people awaiting transfers are factored in, the figure rises to 643 approved applicants.
Figures published this week show that 504 people are currently receiving Housing Assistance Payments.
A report presented to councillors in the Inishowen Municipal District this week reveals that as of February 5th, there was a gross housing need of 643 on the peninsula. The biggest need is in Buncrana, with a need of 264 homes, followed by Carndonagh, with a need of 108 homes.

Meanwhile, members were told that of those waiting, 402 are currently accomodated in council social housing and are awaiting approved transfers, leaving a new social housing waiting list in Inishowen of 241.
At present, there are 39 vacant homes across the peninsula which are in the process of being allocated.
