The loggerhead was found washed up on a beach in the county on Sunday afternoon, it is now being treated at Exploris Aquarium in Portaferry, Co Down.
A seal rescue team from Exploris Aquarium travelled to Donegal on Monday morning following the discovery of a loggerhead turtle on a beach in the county on Sunday afternoon.
The aquarium has confirmed that the turtle is currently being treated for for cold-stunning and remains in a critical state, receiving round the clock care.
Juvenile Loggerhead Turtles are normally found in warm waters in the middle of the Atlantic where there is plenty of food, not returning to shores until they are approximately 7-12 years old.
Its believed the turtle found in Donegal is most likely to have been caught in the gulf stream before travelling several hundred miles.
Peter Williams, the aquarium curator has urged the public to report any sightings of the rare loggerhead turtle.
