Darragh Crossan of Foyle Valley AC wins Tír Chonaill AC Jingle Bells 5k


Darragh Crossan of Foyle Valley AC, who ran 16 mins 47 secs, emerged as winner of the Tír Chonaill AC annual Jingle Bells 5k following a closely fought battle with Garreth McCullagh of Lifford/ Strabane who finished in 16 mins 52 secs. North Leitrim’s Marcus McGowan filled third overall position finishing in 16 mins 58 secs.
The event was held in ideal but damp running conditions on Sunday morning in Glenties.
Clare Quinn, 22mins 11 secs from the local club won the women’s section from club mates Jackie Harvey and Sharon McGowan.
Prior to the presentation of category and spot prizes, Eamon Harvey thanked all that came and supported, walked and ran, the local organizing committee led by Marita Ward and Andrea McMenamin, All Sports Donegal Town and locals and club members that donated valuable prizes on behalf of the organizers.
The proceeds from the event amounting to a four figure sum will go towards the’Mickey Joe – The Long Road Fund’.
