Man arrested on suspicion of murder following death of 19 year old in Derry

An 18 year old Derry man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a 19 year old in the early hours of this morning.
At approximately 2am Jordan McConomy from the Rossnagalliagh area of the city was in an altercation with an other male in the William Street area and died a short time later in hospital as a result of his injuries.
The 18 year old is currently in custody at Strand Road Police Station.
Detective Chief Inspector, Geoff Boyce of the PSNI Serious Crime Branch is appealing for witnesses to the incident to contact police.
He is asking anyone who was in the vicinity who witnessed the altercation to come forward.
Detective Boyce said he is particularly keen to speak with motorists who may have been parked on or travelling along William Street at the time and had a dash cam fitted to their vehicle.
