Barack Obama breaks Twitter record for most liked tweet ever

President Obama has been keeping a relatively low profile since leaving office last January, taking a well-deserved holiday and working away in Washington D.C, where he and Michelle continue to live while their youngest daughter, Sasha, finishes high school.
He hasn’t been completely silent of course, and this weekend he took to Twitter to share a message of love and tolerance following the Charlottesville attack.

This became the most-liked tweet ever today at 10:07 pm ET, Twitter spokesman says. It’s also the fifth most retweeted tweet ever. https://twitter.com/barackobama/status/896523232098078720

His tweet quoting Nelson Mandela has since become the most liked tweet ever, overtaking the Nevada teen who launched a campaign to get free chicken nuggets. The message has gained over 3 million likes since being posted on August 13th.
