Derry City 2 – 2 Shamrock Rovers
Derry City let a two-nil lead slip at the Brandywell last night against Shamrock Rovers to take a point in a battling contest which ended two-all.
Ronan Curtis hit Derry’s 50th and 51st goals of the season in the space of 90 seconds.
He hit a low curling shot by the keeper for the first and the second came when he bundled the ball in from close range.
Rovers reduced the deficit six minutes from the break. Gary Mc Cabe smashed a powerful drive beyond Gerard Doherty from the right side of the box.
Seven minutes from time, Stephen McPhail hit the equaliser from a free-kick from near the corner flag on the right without a touch from another player in the crowded penalty box.
Derry’s next game is on Sunday in the semi-final of the FAI Cup when they travel to Oriel Park to face Dundalk.
