Man appears in court over drug offences

Derry Magistrates Court

A 25-year-old Derry man has appeared in court charged with possessing drugs valued at £21,000.
Gavin Fisher whose address was given as c/o Maghaberry Prison was charged with possessing cocaine, a class A drug, and clephodrone, a class B drug with intent to supply on July 1.
He also faced two other charges of possessing the drugs on that date.
A police officer said he could connect Fisher to the charges.
In response to questioning from defence solicitor Mr. Paddy MacDermott the officer said the evidence was ‘a small DNA particle’ on the knot of one of the bags the class B drugs were found in.
He agreed that there was no DNA on the class A drugs but said forensic evidence linked the bags both sets of drugs were found in.
There was no application for bail and Fisher was remanded in custody to appear again on December 12.
