cope convention
Fianna Fail veteran Pat the Cope Gallagher is returning to the hustings, after topping the poll at the party’s selection convention for the new Donegal constituency. He and sitting TD Charlie Mc Conalogue will contest the election, with the possibility of a third candidate being added by party headquarters later.
Pat the Cope topped the poll with 332 votes against 261 for Charlie Mc Conalogue. The other two candidates, Cllr James Pat McDaid and Claudia Kennedy received 86 and 29 votes respectively.
This opens the prospect of Pat the Cope Gallagher taking a seat at his running mate’s expense.
However, Deputy Charlie Mc Conalogue says two seats is an attainable goal, and that’s what they will both be working towards.
He says it was a good convention…………..

Pat the Cope Gallagher says the key will be proper vote management, and that’s for the party to work on, as well as deciding whether or not a third candidate will be added.
He says the turnout at the convention shows that Fianna Fail is still a party to be reckoned with in Donegal…………………
