Women for Election highlight low number of women TDs over 97 years

Wicklow has elected the most female candidates in Ireland to date.

Women For Election has compiled a table, which highlights the low level of women in the Dail.

Three counties, Cavan, Laois and Louth have never elected a woman, Donegal has elected two ; Mary Coughlan and Cecilia Keavney.

Speaking to Greg Hughes on today’s Shaun Doherty Show, Women for Election Spokesperson Suzanne Collins said it’s worrying that so far, very few women have declared to contest the next general election in Donegal……………………..
