Police issue traffic and travel advice ahead of Apprentice Boys parade in Derry

The annual Apprentice Boys of Derry parade will take place in the city this Saturday, with 140 bands and Apprentice Boys’ Clubs expected to attend.
There will be smaller parades throughout the morning prior to the main parade, which takes place at 12.30pm.
The smaller parades will begin at 9am and will continue throughout the morning until the main parade commences.
Police are advising that traffic diversions and delays are likely from 10.30am.
Traffic will not be allowed onto the parade route after 12pm and any cars parked on the parade route will not be able to move until the parade has passed their point.
The main parade, which takes 2 1/2 hours, commences at Duke Street and proceeds via Craigavon Bridge, Carlisle Road, Ferryquay Street, the Diamond, Bishop Street, London Street, Hawkin Street, Kennedy Street, Wapping Lane, Abercorn Road, Carlisle Square, Craigavon Bridge, Spencer Road, Dungiven Road, Dennet Gardens, Sheskin Gardens, Bann Drive, Finn Gardens, Mourne Drive, Dennet Gardens, Dungiven Road, Glendermott Road, Bonds Street to May Street for dispersal.
Police are also advising people travelling to the city to see the parade to use official car parks.
At the request of residents in the Waterside, parking restrictions will be strictly enforced.
Illegally parked vehicles will be ticketed and may be towed away. Recovery will be at the owners’ expense.
Motorists should allow extra time for their journeys and should take extra care .
