Man seriously injured after trying to apprehend robbers outside wakehouse in Burnfoot

gardaGardai have said that a man is lucky to be alive today after he tried to apprehend robbers outside a wakehouse in County Donegal last night.
A man was at the wake of his friend James McDaid in Elaghbeg, Burnfoot last night.
While tin at the wakehouse, he was told that two men were trying to break into his lorry, he then ran out and tried to apprehend the men, jumping in front of the robbers get away car.
The robbers sped off, and as the man held on to the door of the car, he was dragged up the road, and was then hit by a car coming in the opposite direction, leaving him with serious injuries.
Garda Superintendent Eugene McGovern from Buncrana Garda Station, said the man is very lucky to be alive…………


The Mayor of Buncrana Cllr Peter McLaughlin was driving passed the wakehouse when the incident happened, he says he’s shocked by what he witnessed….
