Michael Martin says hospital damage is “unprecedented”

Fianna Fail leader Michael Martin says the priority for the hospital is to restore all services as quickly as possible in a way that maximises patient safety.

He was speaking after a visit to the hospital this morning, during which he met senior management and medical personnel, as well as touring the areas affected by Friday’s flooding.

Supporting calls for a clear statement from the govermnment on the availability of funding,  Mr Martin said his party is 100% behind the hospital, and paid tribute to staff and volunteers……..

Speaking afterwards on the Shaun Doherty Show, Mr Martin said had this happened in Dublin, it would be a far bigger story nationally, and he called for a clear statement from government that all necessary funding and resources would be made available.

He said for a hospital to lose 40% of its capacity in one incident is unprecedented…..
