Hogan predicts backlash against people not paying household charge

The Environment Minister is once again urging those who haven’t yet paid their household charge to do so for the good of their communities, claiming those who have paid are becoming frustrated.
A 100-euro fee was brought in this year, ahead of the introduction of a full property tax next year.
But despite warnings of late fees and the suspension of funding for local services – less than 65 per cent of householders that are obliged to pay have registered so far, with the Donegal still around 50%, and facing a 10% cut in government funding.
