25-year-old Constable Kerr died when a booby-trap bomb exploded under his car in Omagh two weeks ago today.

Survey of listeners show most have no objection to Queen’s visit

A survey of Highland Radio listeners on Facebook shows that most of those that responded either welcome or are indifferent to the Queen’s scheduled visit to Ireland next month.

Over 50% of people said they welcomed the Queen’s visit choosing the option that it will be good for Ireland. A third of those who took part said they didn’t care either way, while the remainder concurred with Sinn Fein police on the matter, agreeing the visit was premature.

The results of the poll come as Donegal members of the Eirigi Group join others for a mock beheading of an effigy of the Queen in Dublin. The poll is not scientific and just for fun – for more news and interaction on Facebook click HERE

Man accused of charges through Facebook back in custody

A 22-year-old Limavady man alleged to have set up a bogus model agency site on Facebook in order to entice teenage girls to pose naked for him is back in custody after an apparent breach of his bail conditions.

Scott Joseph Tootill of Meadowvale Park, Limavady who was charged with five counts of causing or inciting child prostitution or pornography and one count of facilitating the commission of sex offences against a child on dates between March 17 and April 14 has appeared again at Derry Magistrates Court.

A Detective Constable told the court that on March 24, police were contacted by social services who told them a 15-year-old girl had been contacted through a model agency on Facebook and invited to have her photos taken either topless or in her underwear.

Details then emerged of three other girls, one aged 13, the others 15, contacted through Facebook by the  Sandra Green Agency, and invited to pose for ‘galmour’ pictures involving ‘topless’ poses.

On March 30 the defendant’s home was searched and he was interviewed about the alleged offences.

He admitted setting up the Sandra Green Agency on Facebook but denied enticing them to have indecent images taken. He was released on police bail.

However, earlier this month, police discovered that the Sandra Green Agency had been set up on a different website. Tootill was arrested for being in breach of his bail conditions which forbid any contact with under 16s.

There was no bail application and he was remanded in custody to appear again by videolink on May 5.

Two Donaldson suspects released without charge

The two men arrested in connection with the murder of Denis Donaldson have been released without charge.

The men, a 69 year old from Dungloe and a 31 year old from Annagry, had been in custody at Letterkenny Garda Station since Tuesday evening.

A file on the men’s arrest will now be compiled and sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The 69 year old had been living in Glasgow for the past number of months but was arrested on Tuesday evening in Glenties.

The other man was arrested in Annagry on Tuesday night on suspicion of being in possession of a firearm on the day that Mr Donaldson was murdered on April 4th, 2006.

Former Sinn Féin official 56-year-old Dennis Donaldson, who had admitted being a British agent for more than 20 years, was shot dead in his remote home at Cloghercor, Doochary, Glenties in 2006.

Earlier this week the family of Mr Donaldson claimed the British security services may hold the key to solving the crime.

Mr Donaldson’s family claim British state agencies, particularly Special Branch, were “central to the murder”.

They said they were increasingly frustrated and concerned by the lack of progress in the Garda murder inquiry, claiming they haven’t met officers since 2009.
