Timing of Councillor O’Domhnaill joining Fianna Fail a ‘coincidence’

Councillor Seamus O Domhnaill, now an official member of Fianna Fail, says the timing of his joining the party is not related to the probability that his brother will contest the Donegal South West by-election.
Having been rejected previously by Fianna Fail as a council candidate, Seamus O’Domhnail ran as an Independent and polled highest in the Glenties Electoral area.
His decision to accept the Fianna Fail party whip came on the same day the by-election date was confirmed with his brother Brian O’Domhnaill set to be chosen by Fianna Fail to contest it.
Councillor O’Domhnail says this is a coincidence and talks had been ongoing:
