Provisional figures suggest MRSA incidents are falling, with 14 cases at Letterkenny General Hospital during 2009, compared to 20 the previous year.

The highest number of cases was recorded at Galway University Hospital, with 35 infections.

In total, there were 335 cases around the country last year compared to 439 in 2008.
