Up to 25 job losses to be confirmed at Medisize

There are more job losses on the horizon in Donegal, with Medisize in Letterkenny set to cut its workforce by over 10%.
The company, which employs 170 workers at its High Road plant, is understood to be seeking up to 25 job losses.
It emerged before Christmas that Medisize is seeking to cut its payroll. No official figures were confirmed, but it’s understood between 18 and 25 job losses have been sought, two-thirds of which will be shed from production and the remainder from administration.
Consultation with staff and unions has been taking place over the intervening weeks, and our understanding is a key meeting is to take place today between Siptu and management, following which a final decision may be announced.
In a statement issued in December, senior management at Medisize indicated that a restructuring programme will be necessary to improve competitiveness and help secure future business at the  Letterkenny plant.
